I am proud to be an educator and consultant with Beautycounter! For the longest time, have pursued a healthy lifestyle – you know, eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, etc. Well, with all that I never really gave a thought to what I was putting on my body and how that’s just as important.
I first heard about Beautycounter 2 years ago from a friend. I was not a product person, but with my dry, sensitive skin I needed a good moisturizer. I tried a moisturizer, but didn’t commit at that time. Fast forward a year, and I was desperate for a good moisturizer – I was breaking out weekly; my skin was really dry, but also oily; and I had bumps on my cheek. I tried Beautycounter again and fell in love with the products, especially the Charcoal Cleansing Bar and the Nourishing Face Collection. I quickly noticed a difference in my skin, and after using the products for almost a year, my skin has never felt better.
I never saw myself going into a direct retail position. Honestly, I had the “ick” reaction that I think most people do when they encounter direct sales. But it’s funny how things change when it’s the right time. Still loving the products, but not really familiar with the safer beauty movement, I began entertaining the idea of joining Beautycounter. I was already telling so many people about the products, so why not make some money doing it?
As I approached the opportunity, my eyes opened to how much this mission and company fit with me. You see, in my 3 years post-college, I was very unhappy with my full-time jobs. The companies I worked for were amazing, as were the people, but they just weren’t a good fit. For those 3 years, I felt like the life was sucked out of me. So, I took a risk, quit my 9-5 job, and joined Beautycounter, and I could not be happier.
Since joining this movement, I have learned so much about the beauty industry and how we all can make safer choices for our skin.
Did you know that the US has not passed a Federal law regulating what goes into our personal care products since 1938, and that only 20% of the chemicals in personal care products have been tested for human safety?
I believe that we should not have to sacrifice our longterm health for high quality. Beautycounter is doing something about this. It is not just another skin care company; it’s a movement that is advocating for change in the beauty industry and creating superior products that are safer and high-performing. Beautycounter outright bans over 1500 harmful ingredients from the products (Never List) and screens every new ingredient for information on specific hazards such as cancer, developmental toxicity, hormone disruption, and infertility.
I am passionate about sharing my journey to safer beauty and safer living with others as well as helping people make safer choices for their skin. I never imagined joining Beautycounter would give me as much joy and purpose it has.
